× Justice (Retd.) Muhammad Taqi Usmani is a renowned figure in the field of Shariah, particularly in Islamic Finance. He currently holds advisory positions in a number financial institutions practicing Islamic Banking and Finance. Justice (Retd.) Muhammad Taqi Usmani has vast experience in Islamic Shariah, teaching various subjects on Islam for more than 50 years. He has served as a Judge in the Shariat Appellate Bench, Supreme Court of Pakistan from 1982 to 2002. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Albalagh (a weekly publication of Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi) as well as an active contributor of articles in leading Pakistani newspapers. × Dr. Mufti Muhammad Imran Ashraf Usmani, son of Justice (Retd.) Mufti Bilal Ahmed Qazi

× Mufti Bilal Ahmed Qazi has recently joined ABPL in the capacity of Shariah Board Member. Mufti Bilal has done his Al-Aalamiyyah from Jamiah-tul-Uloom Ul-Islamiyah Banori Town, Karachi and then completed specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence from Jamia Darul-Uloom and has also obtained an MBA from Institute of Business Administration. Mufti Bilal is associated with with Darul Ifta Jamia Darul-Uloom, Karachi and has written over two thousand Fatwas on various issues of high importance. He is in the teaching faculty of CIE, (Centre for Islamic Economics, faculty of Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi). He has been associated with Meezan Bank Ltd as Shariah Scholar. He has also been the Shariah Advisor of NAFA Islamic Mutual Funds and is currently a Shariah Board Member of Summit Bank and Soneri Bank Limited Pakistan.

Mufti Abdullah Najeeb Ul Haq Siddiqui

× Mufti Abdullah Najeeb-ul-Haq Siddiqi’s association with ABPL is more than a decade old, currently he is serving at ABPL as the Resident Shariah Board Member and is the focal point in advising on routine Shariah matters of the Bank. Mufti Abdullah possess insight of the key developments in the local Islamic Banking industry and related challenges and has played an instrumental role in the Shariah structuring of Tier II Modaraba Sukuk of ABPL. He has graduated from Jamia Darul-Uloom Karachi as Aalim-e-Deen, thereafter specialized in Islamic Fiqh and Fatawa and obtained certification in Islamic Banking, Finance and Economics from the Centre for Islamic Economics (CIE). Mufti Abdullah Najeeb has also completed his LL.B and is engaged as a faculty member of Jamia Darul-Uloom, CIE and visiting faculty of Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. Mufti Abdullah Siddiqi is also a member of the AAOIFI regional committee and is had been engaged internationally with Swiss Re Takaful and locally he has association with various Islamic Financial Institutions, Mutual Funds and Takaful Companies in different advisory roles.

Dr. Mufti Khalil Ahmad Aazami

× Dr. Mufti Khalil Ahmad Aazami is a renowned Shari’ah Scholar in Islamic Banking industry. He joined Bank Alfalah Islamic Banking in 2003 as a Shari’ah Advisor and is now serving as Chairperson Shari’ah Board. Dr. Aazami graduated from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi. He obtained Shaha dat-ul-Aalamia (Masters in Arabic and Islamic Studies) and Al-T’akhassus fi al-Iftaa’ (Specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence and Fatwa) from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi and holds a Doctorate degree in ‘Islamic Jurisprudence’ from Karachi University. He has also served as an Advisor/Shari’ah Board Member in different financial institutions including Takaful Pakistan Limited (2005-2014) and Alfalah GHP Islamic Fund (2007-2014). Dr. Aazami has 18 years of research experience related to Islamic Finance and other Shari’ah related subjects. He is an author of numerous publications. He is also an experienced lecturer and trainer in the field of Islamic Finance, Economics, Fiqh, Islamic Financial Laws and General Islamic Science. He is involved as Faculty member, – Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi since 1999 and has been associated with the Centre For Islamic Economics, Karachi, National Institute of Banking and Finance – SBP and Sheikh Zaid Islamic Research Centre – University of Karachi.

× Mufti Mohib ul Haq Siddiqui graduated from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi. He obtained Shaha dat-ul-Aalamia (Masters in Arabic and Islamic Studies) and Al-T’akhassus fi al-Iftaa’ (Specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence and Fatwa) qualifications from Darul Uloom.He has substantial and diversified experience in the field of Islamic Finance and has served several financial institutions as a member of Shari’ah Boards. He currently works as Chairperson Shari’ah Board at Faysal Bank Ltd. and is also a member of the State Bank of Pakistan’s Committee for Shari’ah review, standardization of Islamic products and processes and formalization of AAOIFI Shari’ah standards for the Pakistan banking industry. Mr. Siddiqui has served as Shari’ah Scholar/Facilitator at the following institutions: • Shari’ah Advisor – Faysal Bank Ltd since 2011. • Member Shari’ah Board – Takaful Pakistan Ltd since 2006. • Member Shari’ah Board – JS Islamic Fund since 2003. • Faculty member – Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi since 2003. • Faculty member – Centre for Islamic Economics, Karachi since 2004. • Visiting Faculty member-NIBAF and PAF-KIET (Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology) University, Karachi. × Mufti Imtiaz Alam completed his dissertation on Islamic jurisprudence with outstanding record throughout his academic career. He has completed AL Takhassus Fil Ifta (Specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence) in 2008 and Shadatul A'alamiyyah in 2005 from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi. Besides Islamic education, he has done his Bachelor and Masters in Commerce from University of Karachi. × Mufti Muhammad Yahya Asim has been associated with the field of Islamic studies for over 20 years; he holds a double Masters in international relations and Arabic and Islamic studies respectively. Mr. Asim completed his specialization in Islamic Fiqh and Fatwa (Islamic Jurisprudence) from the well renowned Jamia Dar ul Uloom Karachi (1988-91). This was further reinforced by his specialization as Alimiyyah (Darse Nizami). He is also currently pursuing a PhD. He has delivered several lectures at local and international forums and has issued about more than thousand fatawas on different Islamic topics especially in Islamic Finance and family law. He is the Faculty member for Islamic Economics at Jamia Dar ul Uloom Karachi and National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF).
